PWD Nagpur Hosts Impactful Workshop on Good Construction Practices

On April 17, 2025, the Public Works Region, Circle & Integrated Unit, Nagpur, successfully organized a highly impactful one-day workshop on Good Construction Practices. Held at the A.P.I. Hall, GMC Nagpur, the event focused on the practical aspects of construction, providing valuable insights for the PWD team. Eminent speakers from the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Nagpur Centre, led the sessions.

The workshop featured four comprehensive sessions:

  • Session I: Foundations & Reinforcement Detailing
    • Led by Er. P. P. Deshpande and Er. Sumant Mundle, this session covered critical topics such as reinforcement placement, detailing standards, and essential dos and don’ts in reinforcement detailing.
  • Session II: Formwork & Shuttering
    • Also presented by Er. P. P. Deshpande and Er. Sumant Mundle, this segment delved into various types of formwork, appropriate material selection, and effective execution techniques to enhance accuracy and efficiency in construction.
  • Session III: Concreting
    • Er. Manoj Kawalkar led this session, focusing on vital aspects of concreting, including mix design, Ready Mix Concrete (RMC), various curing methods, and techniques to improve concrete strength and durability.
  • Session IV: Safety at Construction Projects
    • The final session, led by Er. Manoj Kawalkar, emphasized crucial site safety protocols, preventive measures for ensuring worker safety, and good practices, alongside discussions on health and environmental considerations in construction projects.

The workshop garnered enthusiastic participation from all attendees, proving to be an exceptionally valuable learning platform for the PWD team.
