The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Student Chapter of Priyadarshini College of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, successfully organized an industrial site visit to the RDC Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) Plant, MIDC, Nagpur, on 28th February 2025.
Objective of the Visit
The primary aim of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the production process of Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and deepen their understanding of:
- The batching and mixing process
- Material handling and storage techniques
- Quality control protocols at a professional RMC plant

The visit was conducted under the expert guidance of Er. Rajesh Thakur, Plant Head at RDC, who offered in-depth explanations and real-time demonstrations across various functional units of the plant:
🔹 Material Stacking Unit – Insights into raw material storage and management
🔹 Control System – Overview of automated batching and precision control
🔹 Material Testing Laboratory – Demonstration of quality assurance and testing procedures
🔹 RMC Production Workflow – Detailed explanation of mixing, batching, and concrete transportation processes
Learning Outcome
The students actively engaged with industry professionals, asking questions and observing live operations, which helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and field practices. The visit proved to be a highly beneficial experiential learning opportunity, enhancing their understanding of modern concrete technology.
